Can someone turn the sun off?

August 14th, 2007

I’m sitting here, sweating, my computer is 51 centigrades warm and I have nothing to do. What to do? Blog about it of course!

These days I’m just waiting for school to start again in about a week (well, that’s including the introduction week for new student during which we old students just party with them :P) . I’m spending my time playing around with my new PicooZ helicopter, trying to make it fly better. So far, I haven’t had much success…

In other news, the moving out plans are at a standstill (but still there). Here at home, we’re awaiting the arrival of not one, but two kittens (from two different breeders, at different times). This is partly because we’re away so often, so we don’t want to leave a poor cat alone. Also, two cats equals double the fun. ;)

For now, I guess I’m back to modding the helicopter.

Cats and Stuff, take two

May 1st, 2007

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia probably caused by feline infectious peritonitis. I hate the world.

On April 12, Oskar (my cat, RIP) was put to sleep due to the above disease(s). He didn’t live more than (just under) six months (three here) and it’s awfully empty in the house without him, even though I don’t think much about it anymore. It just feels a bit unfair, both to us (who lost our old cat less than six months ago) and to him (who never got to experience his first birthday). Before you say anything, both the vet and various knowing people said it was impossible for Oskar to have gotten FIP from Rasmus (our old cat), since one month is the recommended/required waiting time for all FIP viruses to die out (we waited for two months before getting Oskar). I’m infinitely thankful he didn’t became sick during February, when I was home alone with him while my parents were in New Zealand. Anyway, we are now in “quarantine”, but the breeder has very kindly offered us a new cat as soon as possible (for both us and her).

In other news, I’m in the very early planning stages of moving out to my own apartment (together with a friend). The plans are at a standstill right now, but they are there. At the same time the school goes on, a bit lighter on the pressure than before. I somehow get myself involved in a few parties and projects anyway, so I’m still quite busy…

Once again, Rest In Peace, Oskar. Say hello to Rasmus in cat heaven.

Busyness goes on

March 8th, 2007

No, I didn’t spell the title correctly according to Oxford etc., but it is like I want it. It’s a pun, for God’s sake! (It also resembles the title of “The Pursuit of Happyness”, which is a great movie.)

What I mean is that I still feel busy all the time. I don’t know why, since I got a lot of free time which I spend on doing less usefull stuff… When it then comes to exams, I’m not well prepared and I still give myself too much time for other things. My motivation for studies is gone with the wind… :(

Had my last (of two) exam for this time today (we have four exam weeks a year plus three re-exam weeks, where you can redo failed exams), so I’m a bit happy. Although, I have to write a four page essay for Thursday, so as I said, busyness goes on. I sometimes wish I was my (new) cat, Oskar, who is now sleeping inside my sweater. No worries, just eating, playing and cuddling. On the other hand, he can’t handle my computer, just (try to) hunt the mouse pointer. ;)

Y2K7 - The year of bad weather (so far)

January 1st, 2007

And there, some hours into 2007, but unlike last year, I dislike the weather.

Exactly one year ago, the ground was covered in white. Now, it’s eight damn centigrades outside and the wind is blowing at storm speeds… December 2006 was unusually warm and some meteorologists say that if the ‘heat’ continue past the middle of January, there will be no winter. Oh, joy! I BADLY want to go skiing, but my favorite ski resort (Isaberg) is snowless and they have planned a 70 years celebration party for the end of January. Lets hope they get the cold weather they need to generate their own snow before that. I certainly will get there soon after the snow arrives…

I guess the stuff I said about global warming wasn’t true after all… Damn green house gasses! :(

Cats and Stuff

November 19th, 2006

*Sigh* Already past half of November, and a lot has happened since last post.

First and foremost: My almost 14 year old cat died early on the morning of Oct 22. He was the first animal to live in this house and he faded slowly during the night of Oct 21 under as calm conditions as possible. We think he died of renal failure, which is common among old cats. Don’t think we didn’t take him to the vet, we just don’t think the vet checked the results enough… R.I.P. Rasmus, you will be missed. :’(

Anyway, we started looking for a new cat quite quickly and on Dec 18, this little cutie will move home to us. :) Don’t think I’m not sad for the death of Rasmus now, but we were expecting his death and had more or less said goodbye to him a month or so before he died, before we took him to the vet because he had stopped eating.

In other news, life’s going on as with school work, other irritations and my second migraine attack of my life (yesterday evening)… I upgraded my Desktop to Kubuntu Edgy some weeks ago (Laptop is on hold until Christmas vacation) and changed my default browser back to Firefox (from Konqueror) after finding a few extensions and a good theme. I also introduced my collection of Christmas music (quite big, about a fifth of the total music collection), and my favorite time of the year is around the corner. (Yes, I am a Christmas maniac.) *<|:-)

(I had intended to write this post a bit earlier today, but got stuck with updating WordPress and some plugins, bug fixing one of the plugins and then optimizing code in another project of mine, and by then I had mostly forgotten what to write about… It wasn’t cats, anyway.)
